Privacy Policy
This policy describes information handled by Frekwency while the app and server are in testing.
1. Who we are and scope
Frekwency is a music streaming app focused on Malawian artists. The service is operated by Enoch Malamba, including its server and media host. This policy covers information handled through the app and its service.
2. What we collect
- Account data: name, email address, password (stored as a hash; this needs confirmation from the operator), and a login token stored hashed on the server and valid for 60 days.
- Activity: which track was played, how many seconds were listened, whether playback was completed, skipped or errored, and when it happened; likes, artist follows, saved albums and playlists.
- Guest identifier: the app creates a random device ID on first launch and stores it on the device. It is sent with requests so guest plays and ad views can be counted. For guests, it is not linked to a name or email.
- Ad impressions: which ad was shown or played, whether it finished, whether it was clicked and seconds listened, together with the user ID or guest device ID.
- Technical data: the server may receive basic technical information with requests, such as an IP address and request logs.
- APK downloads: when a download starts, the download page records the request's IP address and device ID (if supplied), together with the total number of downloads, in a JSON file.
- On your device: recently played items are stored locally.
3. Why we use it
We use this information to run the service, support recommendations and mixes, count plays, charts and APK downloads, show and measure demonstration ads, and keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
4. What we do not do
We do not sell personal data or share it with advertisers.
5. Sharing
Information is shared only with hosting or infrastructure providers needed to run the service, or when required by law.
6. Retention
Information is kept while an account exists or the test runs. Test data may be deleted at any time. Information will be deleted on request.
7. Your choices and rights
You can use the app as a guest without an account. You can request access to, correction of or deletion of your information by emailing frekwency@proton.me. During testing, account deletion, password reset and profile editing are handled manually by email; there is no in-app option for them.
8. Security and use at your own risk
Frekwency is a test system and has not had a full investment in security. We take reasonable steps (for example passwords are stored hashed) but we cannot guarantee that data is fully secure. Users who sign up with a real email address do so at their own risk. If you are not comfortable with that, use an email address you can discard, and do not reuse a password from any other service.
9. Children
Frekwency is not directed at children under 13. Contact us at frekwency@proton.me to request removal of a child's data.
10. International data
Data is processed on the operator's server and by hosting providers, possibly outside your country.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service changes. Continued use after an update means you accept the updated policy. We will update the “Last updated” date when this policy changes.
12. Contact
